The Beast, The Bog & The Bolol a Work In Progress Showing
A work in progress showing of a multimedia performance art piece from Gabriel Rodreick & Merit Thursday including experimental shadow puppetry, textile installation, devised movement and story. The themes explored will include a non-linear exploration of a fable that Gabriel has been working on for the last two years. The fable takes place in a bog, and showcases the many spirits and critters who look after it.

Sara Pajunen and friends present work from Mine Songs: Sounding an Altered Landscape, a long-term project using sound and image to reframe the environment and narratives of Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range, the artist's childhood and ancestral home. Mine Songs is rooted in landscape and listening, using recorded sound, improvisation, moving image and historical text to reveal a complex lens through which to reflect on the stories we tell ourselves (or have been told) about history, power, identity, agency.

Surface Noise: a Bring-Your-Own-Vinyl invitational
We've got two turntables and a mixer. You bring a stack of your favorite records to share. Everyone from beginners to pro DJs are welcome to show up, take a turn behind the decks & share a slice of their record collection. If you've never used a mixer before, we'll show you how. It's easy and fun. Feel free to fade, mix, and play any genre any way you want. Sign-ups are first-come first-serve, and you can play for up to 30 minutes at a time (time limits may be adjusted to accommodate demand). It's a listening party!

Pat O'Keefe, Davu Seru, Michelle Kinney, and Scott L. Miller
Pat O'Keefe and Scott L. Miller have been performing as the electroacoustic duo Willful Devices since 2008. Michelle Kinney and Davu Seru are both huge presences in the Minnesota improv community, and Pat and Scott have long collaborative relationships with both of them. This is the first time they will perform as a quartet, drawing on decades of creative collaborations to make an exciting and unique concert event.

A night of music, dance and food featuring duo These Trees are Clocks (Abby Frank Taylor and Matt Blair) and new collaborative work with Nicole Stumpf. Snacks will be created by Xhuljan Cani and available pay-as-able. In order to keep our community safe, masks are requested at this performance (dancers will be unmasked when performing). They will be provided at the door if you'd like one, but do not have one, and air purifiers will be running throughout.

I am inspired to present a very personal solo electro-acoustic music set. I will perform my secure to questioning to vulnerable music areas in a way that is as naked as possible: just me and my instruments. Instrumentation I may softly or abrasively blast on: keyboards, looper pedal/other effect pedals, electronic drums, trombone, flute, voice.. and more. I will explore my confident jazz loves, my insecure rock confusions, my experienced classical music happies, my excited international music heartbeats.

Orchestra Teacher by day, dad by night during story time and early morning when it's time to make pancakes, and bass player to the core, Nick Gaudette never holds back from an opportunity to fill the air with sonic waves of rhythm and harmony cultivated by his love of music. This evening is an exploration into some of Nick's original compositions featuring the bass and friends. His sound is a mix of Americana fiddle followed with a side of solo Bach, and then topped off with a snappy Django-ish jazz solo on a bed of minimalistic cinematic overtones.

On Moving: A Figure Drawing and Movement Workshop
A two-hour workshop to nurture the mind body connection through live figure drawing and guided movement. Participants will simultaneously explore either connecting with their own body through movement or as an artist interpreting the human form in motion. The movement portion will be guided by yoga instructor Brittany Gendron from Prairie, Ltd. Co-host Matthew D'Ascenzo will facilitate the figure drawing. “Show & Tell” is an ongoing series of public happenings inspired by all those with an affinity for (collecting) physical objects. The event will invite individuals to bring a meaningful (and nonthreatening) object from their life/home, followed by a facilitated opportunity to collectively share and learn about the assembled objects. The intent is to create a low-stakes, community-building activity in conjunction with a sort of collective, alternative archive.

To Be a Good Home short film screening
To Be A Good Home is a short film that follows three women farming and stewarding the land in northern Minnesota. It’s a story about a place. A story about soil, water, and land. A story about growing, connecting, and caring. The one-night screening will also include a poetry reading from Kaitlyn Walsh.

Andrea is a guest dancer and teacher visiting Mni Sota from Beirut, Lebanon and specializes in Arabic dances both in traditional contexts and contemporary experimentations.

Big Psych Faerie Ring
Our Big Psych Faerie Ring is popping up at RESOURCE! Faerie rings are a natural occurrence among some fungi, by which fungal colonies fruit mushrooms on the edge of the mycelium. This in turn forms a distinct ring of mushrooms, growing each year as the fungi expands over time. They are noted within folklore as gateways to other worlds and often associate with the presence of faeries. As we gather in circle, connecting, sharing perspectives and curiosities, we are reminiscent of faerie rings and the mycelial network.

On Moving: A Figure Drawing and Movement Workshop
A two-hour workshop to nurture the mind body connection through live figure drawing and guided movement. Participants will simultaneously explore either connecting with their own body through movement or as an artist interpreting the human form in motion. No Specific God is play of two sets of two sisters in two acts. No Specific God is a play I have been wanting to write for over four years. At the 2019 National Institute for Directing and Ensemble Creation, Ron Ragin was leading us in song- one of the lyrics was: “I'm on my way Great God, I'm on my way Ron asked us to use God however we wish. Then they said “It refers to No Specific God”.I knew then that it would be the title of my next play. It's taken me a long time and plenty of life to find the story behind the title but great god- I'm on my way.

Mutual Aid as a Spiritual Practice
While the term “mutual aid” has come into popularity over the past few years, it's important to root ourselves in the reality that it has existed for centuries! In this workshop and community discussion, we're going to dive into ancestral definitions of mutual aid, explore our personal relationships between our spiritual and mutual aid practices, and discuss individual/shared accountability towards local mutual aid efforts.

CANCELED || Celebrating the anniversary of CB.'s debut record SHORTS. A.P. Looze opens the night with an Akashic reading, then a CB. set after. A school night show where we all be home in our beds by a very not-too-late time, with CB. merch + visual art by A.P. for sale. // CB. is fronted by Christian Bardin, with Eric Mayson, Toby Ramaswamy, and Peter Morrow.

Tarek Abdelqader and Toby Ramaswamy are phenomenal drummers, but did you know that they play keys, bass, and guitar, too? And Robert Lehmann is a standout keyboard player, but did you know that he's solid on the kit, as well? Join us for a night of ensemble round robin, where Toby, Robert, and Tarek take turns hopping on each instrument. Heavily improvised, this music will be made in specific relation to this moment, the space, and the bodies within - moving to the grooves highly encouraged.

It's Pisces season which means the veil is thin and the Spirit world is active! During this workshop, we'll break down colonized misconceptions of death and loss by identifying your Spirit team, learning how to build an altar, and close out with a group ritual to honor those who have passed.

Winter Wonders is a monthly gathering space for collective creativity and connection in the midst of global grief and struggle. A place to find awe and inspiration through a collaborative, spontaneous process of art making, writing, and movement. Some art materials will be supplied, but feel free to bring your own, as well as an object that is meaningful to you (a piece of art, your favorite hat, your grandfather's snow globe, etc.) We'll play with a series of writing, art making, and movement-based prompts, and see what happens. All donations will go toward use of the space; any extra will go to mutual aid funds supporting Palestinian liberation.

Saturn
A collaboration between choreographer Genevieve Waterbury and astrologer Tara Sloane, Saturn is a study on the relationships between people and planets, spirituality and science. The dance theater duet aims to discover an atmosphere for dreaming and peace within the rigidity of winter, and the firmness of Saturn's order. It is an ode to mystery, imagination, and hope.

a chance encounter
“a chance encounter” is an experimental gathering formed around the idea that we make meaning of our lives by asking questions and finding unexpected answers in "third things" and with each other. This encounter will be focused on environmental activism, sustainability, and the natural world. Participants are invited to bring sources they turn to for meaning.

Adam Zahller's Wheel Eternal and Scott Miller
An evening of beautiful music from composer Scott Miller and composer/songwriter Adam Zahller. First, Zahller's Wheel Eternal, a cosmic country-inflected songwriter's band featuring Toivo Hannigan on electric guitar, Joe Strachan on keys, Taylor Donskey on bass, and Toby Ramaswamy on drums, led by Adam on nylon-string acoustic guitar and vocals. The songs are touching but not over-sweet, and sometimes kinda funny. Then internationally celebrated electroacoustic composer Scott Miller and Adam Zahller (less celebrated, less international) join forces in a longform duo composition for kima, onde, guitar, and voice. It promises to be meditative and warm — and *maybe* (if we're lucky) even… profound?

Body Connection: a sensory yoga workshop
Join Britt from @prairie.ltd at @resource on Feb. 4th at 10am for a 75-minute workshop with playful moving meditation and journaling prompts. This workshop is an invitation to come back to your body, to gain self-awareness and understanding of your inner landscape and to hold yourself with compassion. Brittany Gendron is a visual and movement artist based in Minneapolis. Using an interdisciplinary approach guided by curiosity with trauma informed sensibilities, her works are a healing practice to come home to and connect with the mind/body through sensory experiments.

Show & Tell (SOLD OUT)
SOLD OUT “Show & Tell” is a public happening inspired by all those with an affinity for (collecting) physical objects. The event will invite individuals to bring a meaningful (and nonthreatening) object from their life/home, followed by a facilitated opportunity to collectively share and learn about the assembled objects. The intent is to create a low-stakes community-building activity in conjunction with a sort of collective, alternative archive. Documentation of the happening will ideally take the form of a simple zine, ultimately made available to participants and the broader public.

(ab)scheid presents earthroot
(ab)scheid is a sub-genreless metal ensemble dedicated to creating sounds that connect your head to your gut. Their forays into doom and death are heavier than cement but cleanse like a mudbath. Their improvised excursions into drone and noise are voidal rifts filled with the longing for connection. on January 15, they perform "earthroot II", an improvised long-form set driven by sparsity and, of course, low-end rumblings. Expect to be immersed in sound as they turn RESOURCE into a ritualistic circle of sound that will never be experienced again. Bring earplugs.
